Christmas was a blast this year! With Makenna being old enough to understand and be excited about Christmas, it made the time fun for us too. We started getting excited for Christmas early... the last day of November we went out and cut down our Christmas tree and then the fun decorating began. Here's Makenna offering to get some candy canes off the tree for daddy and our friends... and of course herself too.
Makenna was helping me get the new baby's room ready and discovered the snuggly, which is on her back. She has her baby "Ella" in the snuggly while she checks out the empty stockings.
Making sugar cookies was just a little of the baking we did in the month of December. We had our friend Mel over to help us decorate all of them. This just might become a fun family tradition, painting icing on the cookies. Makenna didn't realize that the paint was edible until she saw all of us licking it off our fingers half way through. Once she discovered it tasted so good, she couldn't stop! And then Troy painted her face... What a fun activity!

Christmas Eve we decided to get out of the house and go sledding at the nearby hill. Makenna loved it. Troy even let her try sledding by herself on the GT snowracer. She even followed his instructions on how to use the brakes and braked at the bottom of the hill! Then we pulled out the skis for her to try it on a hill for her second time. This time she was ready before Troy was, with her hands on her knees. "I'm ready Daddy!" and then she was off down the hill a bunch of times.. She didn't even cry when she bailed!

Christmas morning we all slept in and then went to go check if there was anything in our stockings. And to Makenna's surprise, her stocking was full of fun things... and candy!
After a big yummy breakfast, we were on to the presents! Makenna got way more than she knew she wanted for Christmas! A doll house with furniture to go inside, a horse head on a stick to pretend to ride, an art easel, and a lot more. Troy and I got a nice frying pan from Troy's parents. And I got a fax machine from Troy.. which he needed really bad. I thought it was funny!

And here are some late Christmas presets.. Troy found a kitchenette for Makenna at the thrift shop for a bargain price of 3 bucks! We realized we already had dishes for Makenna to play with from her tea set she got from her birthday. And she loves pretending to cook and reorganize it.
Uncle Todd and Auntie Chelsea sent Makenna a Piggy Bank named Micah for Christmas! But she's not allowed to break him open until she's 18. Imagine the stash she'll have by then! Notice Makenna's outfits.. she has 6 of her bathing suits on at the same time.. She was a little excited to go swimming with her friends the next day!
And on New Years Day we had a fun craft/play day with Makenna and our friends Mel and Jair. Here's what came of our playdough sculpting. The dude that Jair made Makenna said looked like our friend Sacha. Sorry Sacha! I guess it's the beer belly!
So that's our little Christmas update.. Hopefully the next post will announce the birth of our baby! I'd rather it be sooner than later that the baby comes! Happy New Years Everyone!
