It seems like it's always a game to see how Makenna develops physically. First she was getting used to rolling over, then sitting on her own without flopping over, next, crawling. Now it's a competition to see who can get her to stand on her own the longest. She loves standing holding on to things, but we have to "trick her" (as my friends with babies are teaching me) into standing on her own. The way you do it is you place a toy in front of her and get her to hold it with both hands... she thinks she can stabilize herself with it... then you let go of the toy and for 1...2...3....4..... maybe even 5 seconds so far Makenna will stand on her own! Yay!
Here is Makenna with my childhood doll, Baby Shivers. She talks to the doll, kisses it (more like sucking on it's head) and pokes the dolls eyes, nose and mouth. The doll is a good way to teach her new words. Makenna can say Bye-Bye and wave at the same time. The bye-bye sounds more like buh-bah... but at least it's the same consonant sound.
Here she is touching Baby Shiver's nose...

And 'kissing' Baby Shivers head...

What a dirty face! As most babies do, Makenna has to put everything in her mouth, even dirt and rocks! She is starting to respond to me saying "Ta-ta" really loud so that she won't touch something, but it's going to be a long road teaching her not to touch everything bad!

We all went rock climbing in Squamish just a couple days ago. Here is Troy leading up a route on the Smoke Bluffs. I did it right after him. While we took turns climbing, Makenna just entertained herself with her toys and the dirt!

Here is a cute little girl in a house coat passed down from my cousin's girls. It is the perfect size for her and makes her look like a miniature adult.

"MMmmmmm, I found a cool toy that I can suck on and water comes out!" Makenna is sucking on our camelbak (water pouch thing) which was hanging on the back of a chair. There are so many things for her to explore!

And of course, the swings! It is so nice having a park right across the street from our place! Every time we put her in the swing she is sooo excited!
